Questions

Q: Why is it Je pense à toi and NOT Je suis pensant à toi?

R: The present tense is usually used for something taking place in the present.

Q: Why is it En faisant des efforts, tu réussiras and NOT Par faire des efforts, tu réussiras?

When you mean "by" followed by a verb form, it is usually the present participle, not the infinitive, that is used.
