Questions about Possessives Pronoms

Q: Why is it c'est le mien and NOT c'est mon?

You can only write c'est mon if the following word is a noun, e.g.: c'est mon ami. If the noun is being replaced, use the form le mien, etc.

Q: Why is it c'est le vôtre and NOT c'est le votre?

When written without an accent, the form votre is a determiner and must appear before a noun (e.g.: c'est votre ami). The same is true of nôtre and notre.

Q: Why is it j'aime le sien and NOT j'aime sien?

Possessive pronouns are always preceded by a determiner like le, la or les.
